Live in Little Village
Conjunto was formed at Club Jacaranda in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood and served as the house band there for many years. This live recording captures the energy of a typical Friday night with songs by Chucho Valdes, Charlie Parker, Oscar Hernandez, Wayne Shorter and more plus originals by band members Sanders and Don Neale.
Live at the Velvet Lounge
Recorded in 2010, Live at the Velvet Lounge documents an evening of purely improvisational music at Fred Anderson's legendary creative music venue featuring James Sanders on violin along with world-renowned bassist Harrison Bankhead and the phenomenal Avreaayl Ra on drums.
Recorded in 2017, Freedom is a live-in-one-take recording of Sanders' ensemble Proyecto Libre, an experimental Chicago collective that draws from free jazz improvisation and Afro-Caribbean folkloric sources to create an entirely unique sound. Ensemble members are Sanders, bassist Harrison Bankhead, drummer Avreaayl Ra, Latin percussionist Jean Christophe Leroy and saxophonist Edward Wilkerson, Jr.
